Company provides integrated solutions to transport, preserve, store, and display temperature-sensitive products to industries ranging from transportation and manufacturing to food retailing, construction, and agriculture. Clients include CostCo, WalMart, Safeway. 400 person staff, 40-60 people in growing marketing department. New position. Report to VP-Marketing. 25% travel. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent experience. 5-8 years’ experience in retail food merchandising. Must have prior supermarket merchandising experience.
  • Strong business acumen and sales support. Able to work in team environment, excellent communication skills, influence capabilities, and expertise in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage competency on merchandising excellence. Innovate around retail grocery stores’ space use, concepts, and departments. These innovations create exciting merchandising departments for customers and stimulate purchases and sales for consumers and retail stores. Provide merchandising support to Product Manager(s) and retail organization (customer) to optimize sales and ensure perishable placement aides in maximizing customer profits. Function as merchandising expert and work closely with product managers. Participate in corporate sales calls with sales staff and provide field support.
  • Build and manage competency center on merchandising excellence.
  • Develop new, innovative merchandising concepts addressing retail store layout and product placement (refrigerated sets, self-serve deli programs, hot food cases etc.) that create exciting merchandising departments for customers and stimulate purchases for shoppers.
  • Create Merchandising System that encompasses “merchandising programs” to take advantage of Retail stores short term and the long-term investments (Programs executed at store level in regards to display, products and labor for maximizing gross margins and weekly profits).
  • Research and develop innovative perishable retail food merchandising techniques to increase sales and/or improve operating costs. Assist Product Managers in development and design of cases to strategically market perishable products to maximize customer profitability.
  • Provide support to field sales for customer visits, promotions, product launches, testing and customer needs analysis.
  • Recommend business processes to maintain customer awareness, improve communications and met business goals more effectively.
  • Participate in Retail Solutions Innovation team and provide support as needed.
